1 1/2poundssalmon filetskin on, cut into 4 equal sized pieces
For serving
Black sesame seeds
Lime wedges
Instructions
Make the teriyaki sauce, by whisking together soy sauce, mirin, brown sugar, sesame oil, ginger and garlic in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Simmer for 5 minutes, then remove from heat. Cool slightly.
Add ¾ of the sauce to a sealable zip lock bag. Add the salmon and make sure the filets are covered in marinade. Set aside for 30 minutes at room temperature.
Pour the remaining ¼ of the sauce into a small serving bowl. You will use this later to serve with the salmon as a dipping sauce.
Preheat your air fryer to 390 degrees.
Wipe or spray your air fryer basket with avocado oil or other high heat cooking oil.
Remove salmon from teriyaki marinade (discard remaining marinade), shaking off excess marinade, and place salmon in the air fryer, spacing the filets out so they don’t touch each other.
Cook salmon for 5-6 minutes, or until desired doneness - time will vary depending on the thickness of your salmon filets and the variation in air fryers. Salmon is cooked through at an internal temperature of 145 degrees, but keep in mind, the fish will continue cooking at least an additional 5 degrees once you remove it from the air fryer, so best to pull it out at about 140 degrees (or less if you prefer it medium).
Plate salmon. Sprinkle with black sesame seeds and serve with lime wedges. Serve with reserved teriyaki sauce.
Notes
Every air fryer cooks a bit differently, so cooking time may need to be adjusted based on your air fryer, as well as the thickness of your salmon filets.
